The Plan of Salvation

The Plan of Salvation

How can I be saved or how can I know I am ready for Heaven?

  1. I must understand that I am a sinner. According to the Bible, everyone has sinned.
Romans 3:23 (New King James Version)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
  2. The really bad news is that I am separated from God because of my sin. The Bible teaches that I am living in a state of spiritual death because of sin.
Romans 6:23 (New King James Version)
For the wages of sin is death.
  3. The good news is that Christ paid the penalty for my sin on the cross. We are told in Romans 5:8 (New King James Version)
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
  4. Now I must believe and receive. The Bible teaches Christ died on the cross for our sins and raised from the dead the third day. If I believe and depend on his death and resurrection for me, I will be saved.
Romans 10:9-11 (New King James Version)
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.
    1. First, we must believe. When we believe on Christ, He gives us eternal life.
    2. Second, we must state our faith to someone else. This is important for two reasons:
      1. It strengthens us to make a statement of our faith.
      2. It is a witness and encouragement to others who hear our statement of faith.
  5. It is all as simple as opening a door for a guest. Christ is the guest. He knocks at my hearts door. Will I let him in? Will you let him in?
Revelation 3:20 (New King James Version)
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
